FireShield® is capable of achieving high performance against fire standards.
However, the actual results obtained in practice are strongly influenced by the laminate manufacture.
In particular, the amount of resin above the FireShield® layer in the laminate, is a critical factor for some fire test elements.
For example, for the E84 test, the results differed from one customer to another with identical FireShield materials.

Users are strongly advised to produce and test prototype laminates, to ensure the required standards can
be met in their case.
See page 2 of the Ampelite FireCheck brochure for the tests that they have carried out on their new product range.
Aerospace international standards for flame (FAR25.853(a)), smoke and toxic gas emission (ABD0031; ASTM-E662), have been met by products using this technology.
Details of tests carried out during development of the FireShield® products
is given above as a pdf document.
CUSTOMER
The E84 test shows a flame spread index of 25 and a smoke developed index of 300 for the Regina veil. The test panel was fabricated with six layers of 450 g carbon biaxial (+/-45) fabrics with the Regina veil on top. The panel was produced with a vacuum infusion process using a slightly modified DION 9100 vinylester. The resin modification included a small amount of MMA and Fyrol TEP additives.
We received a 20/350 on the E-84.
